ParticipantGood afternoon all,
Wondering if someone could enlighten me regarding the above freestanding cooker.
There are two reported problems.
1, main oven not warming up.
I have diagnosed the switch/thermostat ass’y, as the element gives a good Meg Ohms reading.
2, rear smaller hotplate n/w
The switch is fine, and I decided the hotplate was faulty. However, on reflection, I should have tested this electrically too as I’m having second thoughts on this before ordering.
Is there a cut-out/regulator unit that may be causing the hotplate not to heat up, or are the hotplates prone to failing? They are of the solid constructed type.
Best wishes,
jontymox

point 1 Oven you say the element gives a good Meg ohm reading have you made a mistake here as i expect below 50 ohms
point 2 Hob Ring yes the rings fail like any other element but so do the switches so you have to check both with a meter before you can be certain which has failed

Thermal cut-out on the oven can also feed one or two of the hob elements. 😕

Thanks for your thoughts Flyman and electrofix.
I’m sure the main oven switch is faulty as tested, and that the oven element is good.
However, I may have to revisit to try and diagnose the hotplate problem.
Regarding the thermal cut out, perhaps this has failed and is causing both problems?
I’m wondering where this item is located, and how to test it, or if I should obtain a new one regardless.
My inexperience in ovens is obviously showing!

ParticipantWill be a thermal fuse, on some the feed will supply the oven plus one or two hotplates.

Good afternoon all,
I’ve been to fit a new thermal cut out switch this morning, but have been unable to locate it!!
Tried Belling, who say it is “low down behind the rear panel.”
Naturally, I looked there before contacting Belling, also front panel/switch section and hob area.
Thought I’d be able to locate, and have tried following all wiring/looms in order to locate to no avail.
Wondering if anyone knows the definite/likely area where cut out may be found.
Best wishes,
jontymox

Normally located on RHS of oven as you view it from rear, 1/2 ways down ( if its the ‘button type’) if its the cable loom type it may be harder to locate as its hidden in wider cable insulation.

Probably thermal fuse type which is inside a brown rubber sleeve clamped to a metal bracket halfway down back right hand side of oven. Has been superceded by a cut-out stat kit. Part number 082625792.

Evening all,
Thanks for your replies.
Yes, it is appears to be the type which has been superceded.
I did notice said item inside a brown rubber sleeve, but didn’t realise it had been superceded, and Belling didn’t particularly help!
Presumably one cuts out the original, and fits replacement together with a couple of new spade connectors.
Thanks again chaps,
