Hi all, I have a problem with an electric fan oven, it gets up to temperature, runs for 15 – 30 minutes then closes down completely. The consumer unit doesn’t trip and after switching the wall switch off, waiting 1 minute and switching back on, it works – for a short while again! I’m suspecting a breaking down element, but I’ve read that it could also be a faulty safety thermostat.

Has anyone got any more ideas please? Thanks for any help 😀

at the back of the unit is a cooling fan. chances are this fan is not working and the unit is overheating and there is a safety stat that shuts it down

Thanks Dave. I presume that there is only one fan in the oven and this does seem to be working perfectly. Maybe I should check the cooling space around the oven is adequate, or maybe the safety stat is faulty.

two fans on in the oven to move the heat and one round the back to suck cool air into the casing to cool the controls

pull oven out and there should be a 4 inch fan at the back. this should run all the time the oven is on and carry on running for a few minutes after its turned off
