Belling 900E main oven selector rotates opposite to attached thermostat

Stat and selector supplied direct from Belling. The selector turns on ant-clockwise with the highest temperatures reached first. The stat rotates clockwise. to assemble these together the stat needs to be rotated clockwise by about 2/3 of a turn. Unfortunately the selector can then only be turned to about 180, and then the stat runs out of rotation. I questioned this with Belling and they assure me the parts are correct. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong, or have Belling made a mistake?

After careful examination of the old, disintegrated, selector switch I noticed that the selector cam rotates on a ramp for the first quarter turn. Seems I’ve fitted the stat upside down.
