Hi, just coming to my wits end on this one, i was called to a belling cooker last week with a pair of faulty rings, one was a plain old fast ring which was not regulating so swapped the strix out for a diamond h, job done. The halogen ring which has the halogen outer ring and the wire inner elemnt(runs in parallel) was not working at all due to the first element(halogen) being open circuit. so i changed the ring and the outer halogen now works, however the inner will not glow. I have just been told by another engineer in our area that the replacemnt indesit/hpt/belling rings do not glow on the center wire element, but infact is working. In comparison to the same size wire ring to the rear of the cooker the new halogen will boil a pan of water 30-40 secs quicker, so to me says it may well be true what i have been told. But the customer is not happy with this as the old ring did apparently glow on the center. I have also changed the reg with no avail. There is 230v coming out of the switch on the side of the ring and that goes through the halogen part of the ring and when it comes out the other side there is only 110v, is this right? I would think it is as they do run in paralel.
Any help would be very much appreciated!
