    Hi,

We have a Belling CTH70 which has been working fine but this morning just wouldn’t turn on. No lights/noise it just appears dead. The adjacent oven is on the same power switch/circuit and that works fine. Before I look to a professional repair, is there anything I should check? eg a fuse or other protection that may have changed?

    Thanks

    Kevin

Is the clock set to “auto?” This will account for the oven being ‘dead’. Check your handbook for the clock setting instructions. If necessary, turn the power off, wait a few minutes and switch on again. Then proceed to set the clock afresh, ensuring it is set to “manual”. 😉
If that doesn’t sort it, post back as we may still be able help.

    Steve.

    Hi Steve

Thanks for getting back to me. The cooker is fine it’s the hob that appears dead, no LEDs, bleeps etc. The unit has been switched of at the wall at night, saves problems with younger kids. When switched on it simply does nothing. Cooker whirs to life when the clock is set but the hob is inert!

Any further clues would be great!

Re: Belling CTH70 – not turning on.

Assuming this is a separate hob mounted on the work surface…..can’t find CTH70 on my system.
This looks like a supply fault. It is possible (and quite common) for the mains cable connection block inside the hob to melt. This would prevent the hob showing any sign of life. This can be a fiddly job and spotting the problem can be tricky as a faulty connection block isn’t always obvious. 😕

    Power off before investigation. :plug:

    HTH,

    Steve.

    It’s the 4x ceramic 1x Halogen model.
I’ll isolate, check it out and post back.
    Many thanks,
    Kevin
