Hi Can somebody help? 2 of the rings on my Belling Format model number 623BL are either on full or off. I have replaced the regulators with ones purchased from UK whitegoods but it is still doing it. What’s the next thing to try please?

Did both rings stop working correctly at exactly the same time? Which two rings are they? When you say they are either full on or full off do you mean they work sometimes and not others or do you mean you cannot control the heat by the regulator?
Sorry about all of the questions but it may help to identify the problem. 🙂

    Hi Flyman
No, the rings stop working correctly at different times. They are the two left hand rings both “Fastlite” if that makes a difference. I mean that you cannot control the heat by the regulators. No problem with the questions ask as many as you like if it will help!
Thanks for your time. I look forward to your answers

    Thanks

I would normally say it was definitely the regulators but if you have changed them then that is covered. Does the wiring to the hob elements go through a large plug and socket under the left hand side of the hob? Belling used to have this arrrangement and they used to have problems with bad connections, causing intermittent faults.
I take it that if you have changed the regulators then you are electrically competent. Please make sure power is off before checking.

Problem solved! When I got the new regulators they had more teminals than the old ones. One of the terminals wasn’t labeled. So using a circuit tester I carefully piclked the connection which worked in the same way as the old one. Unfortunately I used a regulator that wasn’t working properly anyway which is why it still didn’t work. Using a working regulator I was able to match up the connections correctly-in fact I needed to change 2 of them-and now I have a working cooker just in time for Christmas!
Many thanks for your time and help.
Have a Happy Christmas Flyman 😆
