KeymasterHello,
We’ve just moved into a new house, and the previous owners have left behind their Belling Format oven. I am not sure what the model number is, but it is all electric with dual ovens. I managed to find the serial number on the plate inside the oven door which reads “A025036”, but could not find a model number.
Anyway, the main oven (the lower one, not the top one with the grill) doesn’t seem to be heating up properly – it takes four times as long as it should to cook a pie for example. Now this leads me to beleive one of two things:
1) The owners didn’t leave any instructions so we have something set wrong.
2) Some part of the oven is broken. The orange light does not go off, which I probably think means the oven is not on to temperature. The oven is supposed to be fan assisted, but a fan only comes on intermitantly, and from what I have read here, this could be the cooling fan rather than the main fan.
So I was hoping someone could:
a) Tell me I am being stupid and that I need to press some combination of buttons to get it to work properly
b) Give me some idea of what the problem may be. I have never fixed any cooker in my life, and I don’t want to get ripped off by some dodgy repair man, so any info could gain here would be great.
c) Maybe advice me of a good repairman in the Evesham/Worcestershire area.Sorry this has been a bit long winded, and thanks for any help.

Sorry for the late reply,
The fan in the back of the oven should be spinning while the oven is on, you should be able to see this through the grid at the back of the inside of the oven. Beware though as some Bellings had door switches that cut off the fan when the door is open, so shine a torch through the door and you should see the fan spinning. Assuming you have some heat there, the element must be ok so thi may be your problem.
Its an engineers job to fix that so try:click here to try our repairs@service -
