KeymasterI’ve just used my dishwasher for the first time and during the last rinse it stopped. When I opened it up the detergent door had flipped open but inside was almost a whole detergent tablet. Is this something that I am doing wrong or is it a problem with the machine? Any help appreciated.

When you opened the main door the dispenser probably flipped up without you noticing which means it didn’t open properly during the cycle.
Just a thought, did you hang anything on the upper basket like a dishwasher freshener that may have stopped it from opening correctly (very frequent occurance) ?

Yes, there is a wotsit on the top basket but I’ve put it so that it hangs on the inside of the basket. I’ve been reading other posts about this problem and notice that one or two have ordered the parts and replaced the dispenser themselves. Where can I get the parts for my model? What sort of price am I looking at? and is it quite a straight forward job to replace?

I’m not sure you need one to be honest, if the lid was even partially open when you opened the door it’s working.
Does the lid feel tight or does it flip up quite freely when you close it then operate the catch manually ?

It flips up easily when the button is pushed in.

OK, so that rules out the dispenser.
I still think something stopped it from openening, try another cycle and see what happens 😉

Most dishwashers the flap doesn’t spring up all the way, it only opens onto the top basket and the tablet is washed out/disolved by the water being sprayed. (You’ll hear the flap clunk when you open the door after a wash has completed).
Check that the spray arms are clear and that they are free to rotate. (anything hanging from the top basket within it’s radius will stop the top arm rotating).DP
