ParticipantHello there.
I have a Bendix 1000 Auto De Luxe that came with the flat in 1988! It has just stopped moving the drum.
I stripped it down and ran a rinse and spin and the drum will not move on either. I also ran a short spin which is another separate program on the control module.
The belt is fine and the motor/drum will rotate by hand and the rest of the machine works (water supply/drain motor etc.) The motor rotates quite smoothly so I suspect it may be the good old mechanical control unit, which is £315 from a spares site 😀
There does not appear to be a separate relay for the motor from the control unit so I am assuming either the motor or control unit is the issue.
I was going to test the motor with the belt disconnected by putting 240v onto it but will need to get the pinout for the Sole 20580.032 motor.
Any ideas (or parts!) would be appreciated!
Cheers

It’s usually the motor control module that has these issues IIRC.

thanks for the quick reply Martin.
Got some tiny movements from the motor this morning on the spin cycle, with the back panel off if I rotate the pulley wheel by hand it seems to assist the motor. So the motor looks like it is struggling to turn the belt.
I took the belt off and now the motor sounds a bit knackered right enough.

I take it the brushes are on the knackered side!

Brushes aren’t great but clearly they make good contact with the motor as the contact surface on both are clean and shiny. If the motor’s armature copper segments are blackened and raised in places then for sure the motor is a scrapper!

Looks like the armature has been scraping the brush holder.

Nah! That’s the effect of excessive arcing of the trailing brush edge. Hence why I suspect the comm has raised/burnt segments.
