this is actually my mums machine and needs a seal change, quick look at it suggest front weight is holding seal on or certainly needs removal to get at seal? any pointers?

No way Jose’ The seal is held on in the usual way by a spring! Rip the old seal off and take care to pull the spring off with it. Then slap a liberal dose of warm soap water on the new seal and feed it onto the tub lip. Fold the seal inside out once it’s located correctly and then put that spring back over the rim…..SIMPLE!

Well true it is a small gap for slim pinkies to get in there but overall not a bad job. 🙂

Putting the spring on is more than enough challenge as often it needs 3 hands. One to hold it in place and the other 2 to feed it around. There are a few tips on this site that help you out in that regard. Personally when the customer is a yummy mummy I insist they provide that all important 3rd hand to help me out, but perhaps I’m biased toward choosing the easy way out?

No yummy mummy around?….then use the Iadom option (see below) 😀
