Bendix BDW60 – wash cycle

Afternoon All

We have been experiencing problems with our dishwasher. It seems to run for ages (3-4hrs) on the wash cycle. Never going into the drying cycle.
When I got to the point of opening the door the water inside is not hot, no steam etc.
I assumed it would be the element, but would a knackered element cause the machine to run longer in the wash cycle? or could it be something like the pcb telling the machine to run longer as there is no heat?

I would put a multimeter across the element put i dont think i can get it to run with me behind it and being able to get to the element terminals! :rolls:

Having a quick poke around, the “tank” on the left handside of the machine is full of dirty water (assumption from the current wash) would it be worth taking the tank off and cleaning it?

You do not need to live test at any time. :rolls:

If you have a ‘decent’ multimeter or megger then you can test the element for resistance, continuity and insulation without having the machine plugged in.

In fact it is foolish to attempt to live test any domestic appliance. :nono:

If the element does appear to be OK then the PCB is likely to be at fault.
