Can anyone tell me what the resistance of the heater ntc/thermistor should be on this model.

    Many Thanks, John

I think minimum should be around 5.7k and max about 6.3k at 20c for NTC sensor.

The element is 1950w so by my reckoning applying Ohms law should give you a resistence value of around 29 Ohms. It’s NTC varies with the ambient temp of course but at around 20 celsius should read between 4 to 6 kOhms’ish? from memory anyway.

Much the same values I’m sure you come across with other makes anyway. 😉

    Re: Bendix BIW105w (914211107)

Ok so that did’nt work, inital problem was no heating but appliance completed the wash.
So having checked the board for dry solder joints etc. and checked the heater I assumed the fault may have been with the NTC but having aquired a new one which comes with a new element of course the problem still exists, so i assume a board fault ie a relay perhaps.

Communication with tenant is poor because of a lack of English ( Russian I think) and the letting agent isnt a lot of help,so any suggestions chaps.

    Over to you Martin.

Have you actually proved its not heating?

My gut feeling is that the machine is fine its the tenant who’s wrong.

They probably think its not heating because the washing is cold at the end.
    :rolls:

Or is it they are getting a poor wash because of load size or the detergent used.

Hi Tim,according to the tenant the washing is’nt coming out very clean.
I understand what your saying concerning the clothes coming out cold at the end of the cycle i’ve nearly been caught on that one before.
They have been using this machine for a while so I would hope the problem dosen’t lay there.
I was there today again to check the ohms resistance between the old ntc and the new one having been advised by Martin.
I put it on a 40 degree wash and waited at least 10 mins but whether that was long enough or not I dont know, the programmes on alot of the later Zanussi/Bendix machines are alot longer than my old FLS 1185 for example, and as time was not on my side today I began to wonder whether the heater relay on the board may have failed.
I don’t have a service manual for this model so i’m not sure at what point or time in the cycle the heater should cut in.

    Re: Bendix BIW105w (914211107)

I think it would come up with an error code if it wasn’t heating. Diagnostics, manuals etc are on Connect though that PNC no. doesn’t quite match. Heater relays have been known to go intermittent. 😉

Might be worth spending some time checking for yourself if it heats, I use an energy monitor for this 😉 .
Had many reports of m/c’s not heating only to find out customer is incorrect.

    Re: Bendix BIW105w (914211107)

Sorry Allan, the full PNC is914211107(01). As there is no digital display no fault code is shown. Perhaps I’ll have to take a chair and sit down with a book when I visit next week as the tenant is away on there holiday and watch it go through a cycle, joy o joy.

    Re: Bendix BIW105w (914211107)

May be no fault code is shown to user but you can access it using diagnostics and reading lights therein explained. Worth getting to know the system as it can be useful on all Lux. As I said all the info you need is on Connect. Do a search of this forum if you don’t know how to access mediator.

    Re: Bendix BIW105w (914211107)

Hi Mike, Bendix is not listed under the brand name listing so ive gone Zanussi, clicked on washing machines and after a bit of cross referencing I came up with the service manual for a ewm1000 & zwf 1220s which appear to have the same board.
Yes you may be right im not using the search criteria correctly in Connect but ive only had the account for several months, I normally use Qualtex.
Mediator dosen’t come up using the PNC or model number I just get a list of parts 😕 .

Ah, yes, I forgot, I looked under TRICITY BENDIX!
Left hand menu > Washing machine > T/bendix > model > pnc> Mediator tab > drop down menu.
