ParticipantI am looking at the above machine, the customer is complaining it doesn’t get hot enough.
The element and NTC check out OK, if I put the machine on to 90deg it heats but appears to cut out heating premeturly.
Unfortunately my digi-thermometer isn’t suitable for liquids so i couldn’t get an accurate temperature but when the timer progressed to just before the rinse I turned the machine off and opened the door. The water inside was hot but you could put your hand into it where if it was any where close to 90deg it would have been scolding hot.
The only time I have had problems with an NTC (thermistor) is when there was a slight air gap between the resin and plastic moulding of the NTC but this caused the machine to overheat as the temperature was not transferred through sufficiently. I have never found an NTC to cause a machine not to reach temperature.
As the element checks out (apart from being a bit scaled up) I can only assume it is either the NTC or timer/module. Has anyone had a similar problem caused by a faulty NTC.

Scale can prevent it from getting hot enough. Not sure of the machine you refer to though, never heard of a Bendix with the model but have seen Servis M3810.

Hi Seamy,
Thanks for the reply,How can scale prevent it from heating enough?
Logic suggests it would take longer to heat as the element is will be insulated but surely the timer wouldn’t move on until the machine has required resistance from the NTC?
Or will this machine continue if it hasn’t reached sufficient temperature within a required time?Just double checked, it is the correct model.

Some timers allow a timed period for heating, they will for instance heat to a thermostat reading of 60 & then continue on time for a further 10minutes for a boil wash. If the element was scaled up it may not get as hot as it previously had been.

That would make sense, as it appeared to have 2 heating stages but when on 90deg I doubt it got above 40 for the first heat stage and the second wasn’t very long.
I have already suggested they de-scale to save element future element problems so hopefully it might come up a bit closer to temperature as well. Thanks Seamy
