ParticipantMy Bernstein dishwasher keeps going. I have removed the lower panel, where the timer sits and have been watching it. The machine completes the cycle with no problem, but then just starts again.
Its very frustrating and not very environmentally friendly. I have had a poke around and all seems well. There was a bit of corrosion on the connector to the start button, and have cleaned this all up. All the wiring appears good, and the loom has not split on the hinge, where so many seem to go.
It has concealed buttons and no display.
Any help appreciated, its only 2 years old and washes really well.

arrrr, there is one other thing. If I open the door mid cycle, the timer continues to go round. I mean, if I do not shut the door, just leave it resting, the timer will complete its cycle (then start again) but no water.
I would have assumed that if you open the door mid cycle, the timer should stop.
I hope this sheds more light on my problem.
PS. The timer is of motor driven type and sits behind an access panel at the front below the tub.

the sticker on the side is worn out, is it anywhere else?
All I can make out is: 36MBBTGB1, Bernstein 02-604C… (then the rest is gone)

In the middle of the timer, there is a torx screw hole, so you can turn it round manually. from the diagram that I found attached to the timer, it appears that the north/12 oclock position is the end/off/start.
With the door shut and the machine on, I turn the timer till the start light goes out, the timer still then clicks on a few seconds later to start a fresh cycle.
The problem is with the timer, or a sensor that tells the timer it has ended/started, or it could be the start button is stuck down. I have checked, and its clearly clicks on and off, so is unlikely.
Any help very much appreciated…

Timer in the bottom would suggest that the machine is a Fagor-Brandt made one. The on/off switch is irrelevant to the start/stop function of the timer. You say that the machine carries on without water – this would suggest that the machine thinks that it’s still full of water. You need to check the function of the water level control system.
Power off if you intend to do this yourself.

Thanks Penguin.
No, the water is fine, the wash is fine, it just keeps going and going. If you imagine the the timer is like the face of a clock, at noon, is the on/off/start. At the end of a cycle (drying -10-noon) it goes off, we know this because of the light goes out. There is then about a 5 second pause, the light comes back on again, the timer clicks past noon, and we are off again.
The machine completes it cycle, but just then starts a new one, and then another, and another and so on.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the wash/rinse/dry, its perfect. The only time it stops is if we open the door or switch it off.
All I can think is that what ever tells the machine to end its cycle is defective. (button stuck down, defective timer)
