I recently inherited a house and am in the process of refurbishing it for the rental market.

Could someone suggest a decent DW model for this type of use. The other appliances are Zanussi.

beko (cheap) statesman (basic range with 2yr p&l guarantee) or bosch (statement) or siemens (premium)

if its premium id steer away from milele as their call outs are ridculous and as a landlord youll be forced into paying a premium to have it fixed if its just blocked.

all 4 are easy to use and wash well, built well (respective of their price) and easy to work on and get parts for.

hotpoint indesit hoover candy zanussi aeg haier etc are all more hassle than they are worth. smeg are poorly built for the price, and gorenje dw are either chinese or smegs now. no more bosch built gorenjes :*(

Also you havent stated whether it needs to be integrated or freestanding?

Thanks for the info. It’s a freestanding DW.

    Hi

Gorenje are always worth a look, they also have a two year warranty, ideal for a property let 😉

Re: Best 60cm DW for a rental house

    Hi,

We have a rental house too. We do not supply any whitegoods with the let, because A) People DO NOT respect rental housing, trust me on that and B) Break downs and replacements fall on us. So the tennants have to provide anything they need and if their appliances break down it has nothing to do with me!

So with my own experience of tennants and the rental market I would say not to bother with whitegoods, maybe a fridge and freezer but washing machines and dishwashers are way more trouble than they are worth. It makes no difference whether somebody wants to rent the house anyway. 😉

    Good luck,

    Oliver.

Oh come now Oliver and get real. Within this trade we know the rental market well enough to know that tenants expect and seek fully furnished accommodation. Which, in even the most basic of town centre top floor flats should include a fridge (with icebox), hob and oven. Take a step up from that and a washing machine is a must when a laundrette is miles away or non-existent.

Leap forward to the more expensive and, by definition, more in demand rental accommodation, and the dishwasher is a vital selling point. In most cases an absolute basic requirement. I suspect this level is the situation Jumpty is referring to and hence the need to rationalise the costing without compromising the facilities provided.

As to your point of people not respecting rental housing I can at least agree with you there to some extent. Then again those that venture into the buy to let market have to factor this into the equation accordingly. In my experience in dealing directly with letting agencies I can state categorically they set their rental rates based very much on what they define as ‘the wear & tear factor’. 😉

Funny Martin, every time ours comes up for rent we could let it go 10 times over, appliances make NO difference to whether a tennant goes for a property or not. 😉

All we provide is a built in oven, microwave, hob, fridge and freezer. No body has ever asked me to provide a washer or dishwasher.

sorry HWL im with martin on this.

basic shi7ty accomodation you can get away with 50cm indesit s/o s/p cooker and icebox fridge, maybe if rent is under 200 a month, but in 95{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of accomodation round here bare minimum is a fridge freezer, b/i oven&hob or t/c cooker, plush washer dryer, even if its an indesit.

dw are desirable options but in our experience here, rentals described as furnished almost certainly include a crappy cda/ikea/ignis/whirlpool askol pump of doom, or chinquinese baumatic/carlton/hp/indeshite d/w

It depends where you are in the country GandH1. Up here in Brighouse is very different from Hampshire and London.

Around here there are not alot of rental properties so appliances don’t make alot of difference. And FYI our house is not some shi**y type job either, and the rent is alot more than £200 a month 😉

Like I said before we have everything except a washing machine, dishwasher and tumble drier.

    Oliver.
