    Hi,

I hope someone can give me some advice! We currently sell recon machines but to be honest getting any RAW is always a hassle, either expensive or rubbish like ex-rentals, which are hammered and very expensive to repair.

I was looking for a cheap brand to sell and to use for our rentals – currently we sell some Bosch from Portway, but a lot of customers won’t pay that much for a washer, so go buy some tat from Argos that lasts 15 months, and then can’t be repaired anyway.

I read a thread about Amica from 2008 on here, consensus seemed to be “good but very new, time will tell”. Impressed that they offer a 2yr guarantee on new machines though – does anyone know who covers this?

What cheap machines do you sell? Or are they more hassle then they’re worth anyway? Would like to mop up the sales from the “Bearings? I’ll just get a new machines instead”s crowd, and can make a fair bit of profit for not much work if I can get something delivered same day.

You can’t go wrong with AMICA we sell loads.
If you are already dealing with portway then you will pay around 135-145 and retail around 250 a nice little profit.

You can also get them from Swift Electrical who keep a good range.

If you want to repair yourself then you will need to speak to Ken or John Hopwood who can set your self up as service seller for the 2 year warranty.

If you are coming to the September meeting there will be lots about this subject then.

    Hi,

Thanks for all your feedback. Am I right in saying all their machines are split tubs?

Still deciding whether to go for the £150 5.2kg one with 1000rpm spin, or the £200 6kg 1400 rpm one, which has an LCD display which customers seem keen on nowadays – in spite me telling them simple is better with washing machines 😕

For the original models keep to the AWCT (LED) or AWCN14D(LCD) ranges.

The AWP range are a different style.

Not heard of this make before. Will start to recommend them as a budget machine.

Hows it going with these Amica machines?
    Good / Bad?

What are the latest prices & models.

I spoke to Swift a few months back but never did order any as I was getting Hoover in at a good price. This months Hoover deals aren’t so great for me.

Good – they’re very competitively prices and easy to sell with the two year warranty above Indesit, Beko and other brands in this price point.

Bad – I’m still a bit sceptical about reliability, especially of the AWCN (Polish) models. Boards seem to go down on them for no reason. AWP (Chinese) models are basically the same as the Matsui etc. being sold but the parts inside are of a higher standard, e.g. decent pulley etc. Still some cost cutting, e.g. very thin door seals, but then for £140 what can you expect?

The AWCNs are much more engineer friendly. Two screws removes the front panel and you have great access to brushes, pump. Lid off and the board just clips into place, 5 min job to change. Parts prices even out of warranty are very reasonable albeit from UKW so you have to pay postage on orders.

Overall, they remind me of the Hotpoint WMs. Reliable enough for the customer to like, but cheap and easy to service when they go wrong. Definitely good for me. I still recommend Bosch for families but couples and OAPs I recommend Amica. Much better than Hoover in my opinion.

If you email admin@amicaservice.co.uk they might be able to post you a hard copy – they were giving them out at the WTA meeting.
