ParticipantHi All,
I have an Indesit WIDL126 Washer dryer which is now three years old. About a month or so ago the drain pump went, so I replaced that and the machine has been fine since. Today however the machine cut out mid-cycle and upon investigation I’ve found that one of the seals appears to have gone around the fill area causing the control card to become wet and part of it burn out.
So I am now faced with the dilemma … do I fit a new control card at a cost of c.£80 plus the cost of the seal (once I’ve found out if that is the problem (none of the parts of the machine are wet … just the loom and the card 😕 ) or cut my losses and buy a new machine.
It only happened this evening but I am erring towards the latter. I would like something to last a bit longer than three years this time though and would appreciate any advice on a more reliable make (I’ve been looking at Bosch and LG).
Thanks for your advice guys and gals 🙂

Hi Dave,
Tough call on the PCB but, on an Indesit if it’s been used a fair bit, I wouldn’t spend the money.
The only washer dryer I’d recommend is the Miele one, you can see it from this link
If you have a trawl about the site you’ll see why we don’t like them much and the Miele is about the only one worth recommending other than the Siemens one, from this link but they are still a compromise and I would recommend that you avoid a washer dryer if you can.
Look away from LG, work of the Devil. 😉

ParticipantThankyou very much for your super quick reply and advice kwatt.
I had been looking at the Miele after looking at some of the other posts on the forums but the prices are significant and it only seems to have a 1 year warranty! The Siemens looks interesting .. going to have a proper look in a mo. I’m really shocked at your feelings for LG … I thought they were a really good brand??
If we go for a Washer only would you still recommend Miele and Siemens as the brands of choice?
Thanks again
Dave

No, if you go for a washer only there’s a lot more choice to be had, including the ISE washing machine. Washer dryers limit the choices, a lot.
LG, really not so good. I was talking to a sizeable retailer the other day that was telling me that they were experiencing a lot or premature bearing failures and, on a machine at that price, too many.

ParticipantThanks Don and thanks Kwatt,
We have decided to see if we can live without a dryer and go for the Siemens WM16S794GB which comes with a 5 year parts and labour warranty. Features like Auto Stain Removal sound great, I just hope it lasts a longgggg time!!! 😀

Hi
You should be able to pick up a redemption form from any Miele authorised dealer. Complete it with your contact details, model number and serial number of appliance purchased and post it back to the address shown, the appliance is then covered for five years.
