I know, best option is not to have one, but unfortunately, tiny cottage by the sea means no space for more than one appliance (and if there was, I’d stick a dishwasher in there first over a dryer!).

Currently have a AEG washer dryer that is now clogged up and apparently not repairable! See my post https://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/forums/forum/public-support-forums/help-and-support/washing-machine-help-forum/881475-aeg-l75670wd-not-drying for info on that one.

If we can’t get it going, we need a replacement. Two adults, sometimes three. Willing to spend if worthwhile, and while in a past life I had a Miele washer that was amazing, and never died (over 20 years on it’s still going with zero issues) I’m a little concerned on the reports of Miele being not the indestructable machines that they once were. The fact they no longer seem to offer warranties beyond the normal 2yrs also worries me – last one I bought was a 10 yr warranty! Service should it be needed also sounds painful, and expensive, and I keep seeing reports of them taking months to fix something, or just writing it off and offering 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} discount on a new one. Not really what I’m looking for…

Given Miele is 1500 quid (although outlet is interesting – and possibly nearer 1100 quid) the only other make the local repair guys recommended was Bosch. We’d be looking at something like the Bosch WNA134U8GB I suspect which is still pushing 800 quid, so then I think the Miele might be worth the punt again…

Views? I know the bosch will be servicable by far more people – and I’m kind of working on the theory that given the huge compromises needed, any washer dryer is likely to need service at some point!

I want performance, reliability and fixability over cheap here. Can’t stretch to the high end Miele, but could certainly do the lower end if I can be convinced it’s a good idea. Is Miele no longer the obvious option if money is available? :-/

Ok, no worries. After much more poking and prodding and getting little of the blockage out, we’ve only managed to improved things a little so we’ve caved and my wife has ordered a mid to higher end Bosch serie6 model that was a good price.

miele was tempting, and we would have gone for it had they still offered the long warranty that I’ve had in the past but Bosch will have to do. Local repair guy does Bosch and rates this as repairable as well, so if the worst happens at least in 5 years time at least we’ll be able to mend the thing.

never buying AEG/Electrolux again. The unrepairable design of the condenser being part of the drum is crazy.

    Thanks all!

Suppose you could have gone for Zanussi……….but they actually make AEG/Electrolux anyway.;)

Problem you have is if you take Miele out of the equation there is not a left!!

The only way currently for an extended guarantee on Miele is to buy an extra 3 years these can be bought quite easily from different sources. Alternatively as Iadom suggested replace it with a another AEG from John Lewis with same two year warranty that Miele are offering. Will two AEG’s outlast one Miele on cost? I think yes but that’s just my opinion, It’s a gamble and a numbers game.

As for the other brands out there like Hotpoint, Hoover etc they won’t come anywhere near the other two already mentioned.
