I used to be a service engineer a few years ago and my old boss use to use a company that supplied a disk with breakdown diagrams of appliances, to make it easier for finding parts, also the disk had wiring diagrams on it too. Does anyone know which company that would have been? I think it was in Birmingham?
Also is there such a good spares company in Scotland?
    Thanks

Sounds like Electrue, now known as Connect Distribution. They are probably the biggest spares supplier but most of us have mixed feelings toward them. I’m not aware of any major suppliers in Scotland and virtually all my new spares come up from England.

If you are still involved in the Trade, pjd, contact admin@ukwhitegoods.co.uk and ask for trade access – you will need to provide business details. You will get a more complete answer in the Trade Forums.

Thanks for that, it is Connect distribusion.
The thing is, i aren’t in the trade anymore but am moving to Edinburgh soon and seriously considering starting up on my own. It was driving me mad, trying to remember the name of the spares company, i thought it was connections, i was pretty close.
While i’m here, has anyone got any handy tips for setting up on my own?
    Thanks

Now is not a good time to be setting up an appliance repair business. I am one of the few remaining repairers in my area as most have given it up as a bad job. Now you can buy a new washing machine for £160 it is becoming another throw away commodity so lots of people don’t bother trying to get them repaired.
