Hello, both the side catches on m Hotpoint BF1620 dishwasher have broken or become mislocated, such that the door is no longer supported. I heard one of them go whilst opening the door normally, and then the other a few weeks later. The door doesn’t leak, and all else functions fine.
Can anyone advise if this is a common problem with this model, and if it is repairable?

    Many thanks for any help

Catch is in the middle at the top. Are you talking about a problem with the decor panel on the front?

Hello Penguin45, sorry about the huge delay in my reply!

Yes, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have described them as catches, I mean the two hinges either side of the door that support it when it’s open. Neither of these are now taking the weight of the door, which now hangs lower than 90 degrees if I do not put something beneath it.

Door is counter-balanced by springs connected to the door hinges by cables running round a pulley. These cables do break. Only way to be sure is to hoik it out and remove the side panels and see what’s happening. Power off first if you go this way.

spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will be able to supply replacements, if required.

Thanks very much for your advice. I shall pull it out and take it apart sometime after christmas (she’ll only complain if I do it now).

I’ll post back what I find.

    Best regards
