ParticipantHi Everyone !!
I am a new user just joined today , there appears to be a problem with our hotpoint washer WM63 , on the last few washes the wife has noticed little black dots (like oil) showing up on white clothes , now i have checked the drum for looseness like a car wheel & had the drum spinning empty & the bearing appears to be ok with no grinding noise (even when loaded) , or has the bearing seal perrished allowing grease to penitrate into the water & into the clothes ? otherwise can anybody shed any light on the matter ?
Thankyou & Regards
Richie

Hi
Do these “dots” wash out if you hand wash them?
If so you may find help here http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … age&pid=67Greg

Hi Greg
They haven’t been hand washed yet , but looking at close inspection the dots look like some sort of fluff type which has strangely woven itself in with the cotton & when its scatched using my finger nail it will eventually come away , its that tightly embedded itself , i find this a mystery as to where this has come from or how this has occured.
It looks like it is not the bearing afterall , & i hope ive not wasted your time Greg , as i thankyou for your reply as this is the first ive ever come across.
If & when i get to the bottom of this weard mystery i will post the conclusion. The investigation continues…………….
Many Thanks & Best regards
Richie

The deposits may be grease-balls, possibly caused by insufficient detergent or a dirty machine.
Try running the machine empty, but put it on a a boil programme, with a powder detergent that has oxygen bleach (ARIEL in the green or blue boxes, DAZ, or PERSIL in the green or blue packets). This will clean away any grease residues. Clean the powder drawer beforehand.
