    Black, sticky stuff, periodically appears on the floor under our fridge-freezer. Can anyone tell me what it could be, please? Thanks.

    if it has a tar like consistency, it’s probably just damping material used to reduce vibration on the pipework.
    pull it out and have a look, you may see it on the pipes.

    Yes, it is like tar. Strangely, you can go months without any leaking, then there’ll be a big puddle of it. I shouldn’t complain – the machine is 25 years old!
