ParticipantI had problems with my 1.5 year old Siemens Dishwasher Model number SN26M890GB/07
The cycle would not finish and the water would not drain off. The impeller from the drain pump span OK so I took the bottom kick panel off (tricky) and the sides and got the drain pump and sump sensor out. An E25 error.
The drain pump only had a little bit of hair and plastic around the spindle. Nothing that would have really stopped it. I cleaned this out and put it all back. Got an E15 error which I think means the machine had a bit of a leak while I was fixing stuff and water was in the bottom of the tray.
It is working now but I noticed with the matrix that there is a channel that looks pretty brown and gunked up. When the waste pump is pumping the water away over the little sump the channel which appears brown seems to be taking excess pressure or something like that. Does anyone here know what that is an why it is discoloured and whether it might block and cause me problems in the future?

First thing to note is that your machine is covered by a comprehensive 2 year (possibly even a 5 yr) guarantee. So never attempt repairs yourself at this time or you may void that guarantee. :lesson:
Brown sedimentary deposits in the drain matrix are quite normal and usually don’t cause any problens whatsoever….. HTH?

Mine is truly covered by a 1 year warranty I believe. It has had minor problems before and when I called them they told me that the warranty after the first year was for parts only and the labour to fit those parts would still be charged. Which is basically a blank cheque for the repair people. I like fixing stuff myself anyway and besides from broken to working took between 6:30pm and 8:30pm in the evening. No repairman could come out that fast.
I am pretty disappointed with Siemens. For what you pay you get a lot of plastic junk which is not significantly better than a much cheaper machine. For a £500 unit I’d expect at least 3 years of zero trouble provided I kept the filter clean and the salt topped up.

I beg to differ on that. Siemens produce quality products and their comprehensive guarantees are a major selling point. 😀
If you CLICK HERE you will see what I mean.

Thanks, mea culpa. Do I have to go direct to Siemens or the Appliances on-line people I bought it from?

For repairs under guarantee you need to contact THESE GUYS. They will ask you for the full Enr no of your machine (i.e SN26M890GB/??) and also the FD no (i.e FD????) The latter is the date the appliance was made. If you can produce a sales receipt (should they ask for proof of purchase – they don’t always)) then so much the better.

Hi
Have a similar error E15 on a Bosch SMS50E06GB and the matrix picture on this thread looks identical.(just out of warranty btw Feb 09 purchase)
There appears to be a slight build up of water in the base which triggers the anti flood.
Didnt show whilst running a quickwash but error came up mid cycle on the intensive wash.
Looking in the base there is small amount of water which has raised the polystyrene float(not a lot mind)
So is it likely to be overflow on the matrix or a leak from somewhere else…if so what are the common leak points on the newer type Bosch machines…I havent seen this type before btw
If someone(Martin?) could point me in the right direction it would be most appreciated.
Looks like I will have to drop the base and remove matrix to investigate further.
Hopefully it will be a relatively simple fix…October 31, 2011 at 8:21 am #359332Martin

Better still, remove front inspection panel and see if the circulating pump has a leaky drive shaft seal?

Thanks for the reply Martin
I had already checked the main motor as I know the older Bosch machines typically fail at the sump/motor seal resulting in leaks or seized bearings etc
There was only a table spoon or two of water getting to the base on full wash(not on quick wash-water level?) and there was evidence of dirty water overflow from the matrix at some point in the past.
I seemed to have fixed it by removing the matrix, cleaning the dirty water side and reseating the two seals which attach the matrix to the tub…time will tell.
I managed to get an E14 error on re-assembly which turned out to be a poor edge connector contact on the flow meter which is now integrated into the matrix itself.November 24, 2012 at 9:47 am #359334nirnat

I have the same problem with my 890 dishwasher.
I get an e25 error ant the water remains inside the dishwasher.
I open the side as recommended .
However I didn’t fins how to remove the matrix in order to clean it. It is attached to the inner side of the washer and I couldn’t rotate it nor pull it.
Does anyone can tell the best way to remove the MatrixNovember 24, 2012 at 2:18 pm #359335Martin

Word of advice nirnat……don’t touch the matrix. 😉
Your problem is a drain pump fault so look at your User Instructions and you will see what to do next to sort it.

Hi All, I had the a similar problem. E14 – Error 14. On my Simens dishwasher. I managed to fix it by soldering on a new reed switch onto the flow meter. Its integrated to the matrix so can’t just replace the whole flow sensor. I don’t know what spec of the one that was in the machine but I had one lying about – so I used it and its working ok so far with no problems. The part number I used was – 229-3658 from RS.
It’s cheaper than replacing the matrix at 100 quid.
Hope this helps someone. -
