Participantwhile on the washing cycle this morning, the Blomberg stopped dead – no power light, nothing moving. It expelled about a pint of water from somewhere.
After emptying the water via the pump filter & cleaning out the filter and the bell on the rear – still nothing.
I have checked and there is power going to & from the switch and power to the control(?) circuit board – the extreme left hand knob on the front.
There are no obvious burn outs on the board and I cannot see where the water came from – pump looks ok & turns by hand as does the drum – no obvious burnouts on either of them
any advice or help would be appreciated.
thanks, KevinJune 11, 2007 at 12:04 pm #216595wizard_of_odds

sorry – should have checked the forum more thoroughly! 😳
I have removed the main circuit board and can now see a blown track as has been described in other topics.
I am right in thinking it’s new machine time??

Participantincidentally, its the door lock that does that
check if theres a hole in the door seal
shame, but its very expensive to repair

Door lock failure will blow tracks off the PCB.

I have the same machine Blomberg 1301 ABB ,
and I have had the timer pcb tracks blown 3 times now (over 4 months)
Each time I have taken the timer module out myself & had it repaired
at an electrical repair shop £10.00 each time & checked for obvious
reasons loose wires earths etc ,And after reading the posts on this forum
from experienced repairmen .
I think its down to water getting in through gaps behind the powder
dispenser So after taking dispenser out ,I have sealed all gaps with
silicon sealant ,so far so good but I will let you know if this has cured it
for good in a few months .
I have had this machine 7 years now with no previous problems
good luck with yoursJune 14, 2007 at 10:26 pm #216599helo_75

Hi Helo
Andy – buy one of these at the earliest opportunity…….
http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/index.ph … 24_612_993These things fail for other reasons than water ingress – the PTC device inside breaks down over the years. When it goes bang properly, it’ll take out the neutral through the timer/PCB unit and then it’ll be a BIG bill.

Hi,
After investigating the inside of my Blomberg 1301ABB and then reviewing the forum I come to the conclusion that machine has also suffered as blown lock.
I found and repaired some blown tracks that seemed to be stopping the pump from working, however I still can’t open the door? This occurs even when the machine is unplugged. Otherwise the machine seems to be working through its cycles quite normally.
From the forum it looks like I need a new lock mechanism, but unless I can open the door, I’ve no idea how to get at it to replace it! (It would also be nice to get the load out of the machine before too long!)
Is there a way to release the lock? I’ve had a blind fumble down the side of the drum, but can’t find anything obvious to wiggle. Can someone please advise?
Many thanks in advance.

You’re going to have to replace the lock anyway, so lid and power off, and reach down inside and snap the thing apart. Only way………

Thanks for the prompt reply Penguin45.
Thinking further, I notice the door lock light stays illuminated at the end of any cycle. Does this mean a.) that the controller is still commanding the lock to be olocked or b.) that the light is a driven from a feedback signal from the lock itself?
If it is a.) it might mean my soldering repairs to the controller PCB might not have fixed all the issues. If it is b.) then obviously the lock is dead and stuck in the locked position.
I remember reading that the PCB is double sided and there might me more tracks to fix somewhere under the timer/controller unit. Is this likely for the usual wet lock issue for this type of machine?
Any idea what drives the lock? Is it a switch in the timer mechanism or a separate relay or semi-conductor device?
Cheers,
DIYFiddler

The light is operated directly by the lock – it has to unlock to break the circuit. If the lock is old and slow and sticky, the light stays on – sometimes a sharp rap to the casing next to the lock will spring it free. I did have one of these several years back where the bang welded a contact shut in the programme unit, causing the door to stay permanently locked.
