My Blomberg 1301 ABB heater element failed [short direct to earth]
    yesterday.

I have removed the old failed element & a new element is on it’s way

My query is how do I refit the new one?

It would seem simply a matter of lubricating the “o” type seal fitted to the element & forcing it in to the hole, but having practiced using the old one I find overcoming the rubber seal around the element is going to be a problem

Any advice or tips or is it just brute force that is required to overcome the restistance of the seal?

As a new poster I think I should tell you I am an electrician of 40 plus years, but not on washing machines

New one will slide straight in. The grommet seal on the old one is distorted by years of compression. Make sure you get the element through the stabilty bracket.

Thanks, I have not seen the stability bracket but now you mention it I shall have a good look for it.

I assume this is internal to drum somewhere?

Correct, in-line with the path of the element.
