ParticipantHi, My parents machine is refusing to power up, have checked the fuse and that is ok, Had the lid off and had a squint inside to look for anything obvious but nothing jumps out.
Attached to the rear of the machine is a relay with mains 240 going into it, would I be right in saying there should be some sort of voltage coming out of this leading to the switch assy?
Any help more than appreciated.

ParticipantHi Demon,
Mains electricity enters the machine through a mains suppressor, then round to switches and programme controller. It’s all at 240v, so do not work on the machine live.Check the tracks on the PCB on the controller for blowing, this is a sure fire sign of doorlock failure, and will give you the symptons you have described.
UNPLUG it first!
Regards,

Hi Penguin thanks for the reply.. I have just had my dad on the phone and he has confirmed that the PCB at the programme selection switch would seem to be blown, So what do you reckon would be required to put it right ie partsprices
The door lock cable goes to the small PCB directly behind the onoff switch, will this be damaged also?

ParticipantProbably programmer and door lock required. Mr Conway will scare you to death with the prices in the morning…….
“Small PCB” will almost certainly have survived.
You need to confirm the diagnosis first to be sure.
Shame, ‘cos they’re quite a decent machine really.Regards,

They won’t scare you too much 😉
The timer is £82.89 and the door interlock £32.62 – both inc VAT. Add a fiver or so for postage.
As Penguin says, make sure the diagnosis is correct before going too far though.
If you need anything ordered, drop me an email and I’ll sort it out for you.
Dave.

Thanks for the prices , I have had a look myself and the PCB with the controler attached is well blown, adding up the cost of the bits and postage it would seem my father is going to maybe buy another machine which is a shame as this one is in really good condition, has had a new set of bearings fitted not long ago when the engineer reckoned a rattle was coming from them when in fact it was the door button cable hitting the casing when on spin.
Thanks again for all your help!

It sounds as though something has become lodged between the two drums Jon.
If you turn the drum by hand, does it feel tight or restricted at certain points ?

Keymasterno the drum moves freely but there is excess movment for the inner drumand the outside drum does not move when i move the inner drum i get the feelin it might be the bearings is this gonna cost me big time

Yes, if it is the bearings which it sounds like you will be looking up near the £100 mark to give you a rough guide.

Hi
I have a problem with one of these machines, it would be great if someone coulf help me please.
A short way into to the wash cycle the machine made a noise like the door opening. I checked it out and it still seemed to be running ok so I left it. When I checked back later the machine was dead midway through the cycle.
I checked the fuse etc and all seemed ok, I then took the top off and noticed the earth wire that is attached to the top of the drum was broken. I soldered it back on, but it made no difference. I checked what seemed to be the main PCB (attached to the wash cycle controller) and there appears to be a bad area on the under side, but I can’t be sure as I couldn’t see a way to remove it.
Can some one please advise what I need to do next, or would it be advisable to call an engineer in?
Many thanks in advance
Adam

When you say “bad area” is there an obvious blown track on the circuit board as these are prone to problems of this type normally caused by a faulty door interlock (getting wet by leaky dispensers/door seals) ?
If the control unit has failed then it’s a new machine in all honesty as they are not far short of £200 to buy from memory 🙁
Power off when checking please :zap:

Dave
Many thanks for such a quick response, I can’t believe how quickly you replied.
I think i’ll have to start looking at a new machine then, shame really, this one is only about 3/4 years old.
Ho hum
Thanks again
Adam
