    I have read another thread regarding no power to the blomberg 1301 washing machine. However, my problem is this;

    Machine stopped working midway through cycle. Door light no longer works.

    I have checked the fuse and lifted the lid to look for obvious problems with any wiring/ visible boards. The door still shuts properly but nothing happens if I start a new cycle etc basically to my untrained eye it is dead!

    I would like to know how to test the door interlock or PCB(?) for faults. I have moved to Australia so am reluctant to call an engineer initially as blomberg does not exist out here so I’d like to be armed with some knowledge/ suggestions should I call an eng out. I dont want to buy a new machine if it’s something simple to sort but I also don’t want to throw cash at a machine that may be on the slippery slope to whitegood heaven!
    Your advice please??

    By the way many thanks for the forum – I have successfully managed to repair my uk tumble dryer twice (even ordered parts) whilst living out here (and me only a humble housewife!).

    What is it with Australia this evening? 😀

    Dead Blombergs have a standard fault – the door lock is straight under the soap box, and it eventually gets dribbled on and pops. Very often undoing the lock and giving it a shake will reveal the problem – if it rattles and sounds like it’s full of little loose bits – it is! Be warned though that there is a 50/50 chance that by blowing it has lifted tracks of the PCB on the timer unit. Again, there is a chance that this will have damaged the timer unit – without replacing the lock and repairing any damage, there is no way of being absolutely sure.

    Interlock p/no is 55X3636, spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will be able to get you on at a sensible price (Don’t go to Comet – scarily expensive!).

    Power off if investigating and good luck.

    Ok, I’ve taken the lock mechanism out and given it a shake, sounds solid – no tell tale rattles. The black L shaped bit (electric bit!???) that is attached to the lock had some corrosion/ oxidation on the connections so I cleaned those up. I also had a look inside the actual lock mechanism and that was also all in one piece.

    It’s all back in place, Ive followed every wire I can see from start to finish and cannot see any breaks or sign of damage. The program circuit board and on/off circuit boards also look fine – no obvious signs of electrical fault/ smoky bits!

    Can you suggest anywhere else / anything else I could do? Sorry for the complete lack of technical jargon but Im getting quite good at poking about in the small spaces of the washer now! (I guess this is the reason why they use funny screws!)
    Many thanks.
