ParticipantHi
I have a Blomberg 1501AAA which developed a fault during all parts of the wash / spin cycle.
Basically the drum began turning and then immediately would slow back down again as if the motor were shutting down.
I followed some of the excellent advice on the site regarding the “pressure bell” etc. but sadly it was to no avail.
However, on inspecting the motor I find that slid onto the far end of the spindle (i.e. not the end that drives the belt), is a thing that I can best describe as a deep washer. It is held in place by magnetism and has a star shaped hole when you look directly at it (hope this is making sense!)
Well mines broken in half! I’m guessing that because this “washer” makes a connection with the surrounding outer housing the fact that it is in two pieces (that aren’t touching each other) is the cause of my problem?
Would this be making the “balance protection” thing kick-in? Hence shutting the motor down as soon as it starts?
If so do you know if it is possible to buy this part or do I have to completely replace the motor?
Sorry if this all sounds completely obvious but I want to be sure before I invest £130 odd quid on a new motor for a machine that’s 6 years old. (All for the sake of tiddly little washer thing that’s probably worth about 50p!)
Superb site by the way!

HI
The magnetic ring should be in one piece , if its broken , motor will not run correctly. It is part of the tacho assembly that controls the motor . Dave will probibly be able to give info on spares

It is a complete motor replacement, £130 sounds cheap though, have you been quoted for one already ?

No I haven’t. I thought I’d read that price in another thread regarding the same machine. Maybe it was an old post or something.
Couldn’t find the motor in your web shop. Can you supply it? I’d rather buy from you guys since you’ve been good enough to give me the free advice. That’s of course if I don’t opt for a new machine. Kind of wonder if this is worth repairing.

Yep, we can supply, £155.00 (inc) is the best I can come up with.
Drop me an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk if you’d like one 🙂

Thanks Guys
Have decided to bite the bullet and buy a brand new washer.
I shall recommend your suberb site to anybody else I ever come across with washing machine woes!
