I can do it tonight 😀
Same price as previously posted £25 inc VAT and delivery. One small detail has come to light recently, the moulding of the brush holder differs slightly from the original and now requires a much shorter self tapping screw to secure to the motor.

Thanks for the offer I have, I hope, managed to get some from Electricalsales.co.uk
If I have any difficulties with them I will come back to you
Comet told me that it was impossible to get them and quoted me £178+vat for a new motor!!Tony

ParticipantAs you have realised, the brushes are freely available. Comet choose not to stock them.

Just to update you, with regard to the brushes I fitted,I am afraid that after all that, the motor appears to have burnt out,as it would not spin any faster than 600 rpm without the commutator flashing over and tripping the main circuit breaker on the fusebox with a lot of smoke and a terrible acrid smell,so I ended up biting the bullet and buying a nice new machine.

ParticipantA slightly cautionary tale this, Dear Reader.
If you flick through the rest of the this thread, you will find that Watermead improvised a brush repair to his appliance. I would refer you to the Carbon Brush post in Public Tips as to why this was NOT a good idea.
Secondly, a post here to say that the motor had blown would have yielded a reply that he could have had the used motor sat in my stores for a purely nominal sum (with NEW brushes)!
Instead, a well made, solid and generally reliable machine has been disposed of whilst in a relatively new and savable state.
It is one of those unfortunate things that people realise too late that buying a branded machine (in this instance Comet) can make spares awkward to obtain! In the trade, we know this and tend to break oddballs – BUT all the good (or manufacturer specific parts) go on the shelf! They can and will be useful later.
As a rule, none of the trade members will recommend the use of used parts, but at Comet’s price for a new motor, in this instance it would have been a worthwhile option.

I am looking for a set of the same brushes for a Blomberg 1301 ABB.
I have considered the fitting of an alternative carbon made to fit, but working for an electric motor manufacturer am aware of the potential for further problems.
If anyone can confirm a source of the correct parts I would appreciate this.
