    Hi,

I’ve got a Blomberg CFFN 311. I think the freezer fan motor has broken and it is just getting hotter and hotter (really hot, in fact. Burning hot, one might say, if one were to irresponsibly go touching it with a bare hand).

So, worried about a possible fire risk, I removed the malfunctioning fan motor completely. Here are the details written on the motor:

    FIME Italy
    C15x 0c04/01 CLB
    220-240v 50Hz 11W
    VDE Reg No. 1377

The fridge fan is working just fine.

    My questions are:

    1. Is the freezer ok to run without the fan?
I’m assuming that all that will happen is that it won’t defrost itself ~ but since I know nothing, I thought I’d ask 🙂

    2. Can I get a spare motor here?
I checked and the ones in spare parts don’t look quite the same this one looks the closest. Will it do as a replacement?

    3. How the heck do I get to the fan to hold it in place while I attempt to attach the new motor?
I can attach pics of the interior/exterior of the fridge/freezer if that helps any.

    Thanks for looking 🙂

You can use the freezer but as it normally operates by convection of the cold air you will find that the freezer never gets down to correct temperature as you are now dependent on conduction.
If I remember correctly this motor is held in place by the back cover, what you need to do is remove the fan from the front with the back cover in place and then take out the motor. Refitting of the motor and fan is the reverse.
Post up the pictures and we’ll try and help

    Unplug before you start

Hi Effox i have the exact same model and problem. like you i removed the fan for the freezer section about 1 week ago. It still works (sort of) but it does not quite get as cold as before as there is no longer the assistance of the fan to help circulate the cool air.

did you try ordering/ fitting the universal fan motor (part no UN5364) that you mentioned. i would place an order for this part but i wanted to see if it is a good match for the original / if it had worked for you. i found a place that are selling the original blomberg part but they are quoting £75 which seems excessive

with regard to point 3 that you made, if you open the freezer door there is a white panel at the top inside that conceals the freezer element. this can be removed using a large flat head screwdriver to prise it out of the holes in the chassis that it slots into. once this cover is removed you will be able to see the fan at the back of machine behind the element. You can then access the fan in order to it push back onto the fan motor , but it needs two people to do this i found. one to lift and hold the fan into position using a long neck screwdiver from the front of the machine. the second person can then push the spindle of the fan motor’ onto the fan from the back of the machine.

i have been able to sucessfully remove and put back again the fan motor and fan in this way, however my fan motor is still faulty so i have removed it for the time being until i can find a suitable replacement unit.

Re: Blomberg CFFN 311 Freezer fan motor replacement.

i have looked into this further, im sure that UN5364 will not work as the shaft length is only 13 mm compared with 45mm for the original part. But after searching around i found this : http://www.apart4u.co.uk/acatalog/info_ … X1132.html. Its made by the same manufacturer as the original part (FIME), lit ooks a idential and has exact same dimensions. even the part number is almost the same – my part is FIME C15RP8130 and this one is FIME C15RP9130 (replace the 8 with a 9). i am going to try this and see if it works!

    Great reply!

Thanks very much for the information, juzark. I will check out this motor too, it looks like it will do the job.
