ParticipantHi there 🙂
I hope this isn’t too long 😳 I’m no refridgeration engineer, and was worried about missing anything relevent out.
These are the details found on the label inside:
Blomberg Combi Fridge Freezer,
tn: 8229
Type: CFF 289
Class N
No: 96463147B ( or # 8 )I can also only see one thermostat, which is in the frdge compartment.
I don’t have a fridge thermometer, unfortunately.
Anyhoo, my sister passed it on to me about a year or so ago, and it was working perfectly. It is free-standing and in a well-ventilated area.
Last Sept, I came back from holiday to find that my freezer had defrosted. I called out a refridgeration Engineer who said it was the thermostat and replaced it.
Even though he said to give it a while to ‘kick in’ sadly, the freezer still didn’t work, although it is a bit cooler than room tmeperature. The panel at the back of the fridge is also freezing up, and if set beyiond #4, half freezes everything in there 🙁
I’ve attempted defrosting and leaving it for over the 48 hours reccomended, but still no joy.
I’m not sure if it is a frost-free model, and on doing a search and seeing Norfrost associated with it, I have yet to find anything that states Norfrost on/in the FF.
Other details:
When turning it on after (now, frequent defrosts) there is no sound but the, what i assume, compressor at the back, starting up. (There is no click, I meant- I have seen that mentioned in my searches; not sure if that’s a good or bad sign?).After turning it off and listening in the freezer compartment, I clearly hear a sound like running/bubbling water-? which lasts about 5-10 minutes.
Obviously, I don’t wish to (read: can’t afford) replace it,
but am loathe to spend more money on it if the part replaced doesn’t seem to be the one that is causing the problem (hence not ringing back the original Engineer, as he charged quite a bit for parts & labour, ouch!)Any help/advice would be immensely appreciated. 🙂
