KeymasterHI
I have a Blomberb large upright freezer approx 5 yrs old.
It is kept in a good position with plenty of air circulating round the back. – same site for 2 yrs with no problems.Recently i have found that the motor keeps coming on and if i “thump” the front of the freezer it stops!
I am guessing that it could be a thermostat problem. Is this easily repaired ? I do know an electrician who could maybe look at it but would appreciate your advice first.
Regards

Without the model I can’t be certain if this is a frost free or not but it does sound like it.

Thermostat part number is 45X6165, about £29 + VAT + P+p from Comet. Dave should be able to find a suitable alternative for you at a rather more favourable price in the morning.

Thermostats are effectively sealed units, so not servicable. Replacement only option.
It’s extremely difficult to find a vaguely efficient freezer……… 🙄

Unfortunately I can’t come up with a better price on this one, even direct from the manufacturers, same price 🙁
The likelehood is a generic one will fit, which will mean removing the thermostat (power off of course) and posting any numbers you can find stamped on it.

THanks to both of you for all your help.
Anyone want a freezer with stuck thermostat?!I get the feeling that maybe I should look around for a replacement…this one is chewing all my electricity!
On a serious note though, i shall get in touch my electrician friend and ask him to take a look. After showing him all the help you have given……will keep you posted
