ParticipantMy Bosch WFO2864GB/01 is not spinning properly
I replaced the brushes and cleaned all the carbon dust off after reading some posts.
The sympton is that the spin cycle does not get up to speed and jumps to 1 min. at 1400 it tries to spin for 2-3 minutes then jumps to 1 minute. at 600 it tries for 5-6 mins before jumping to 1. Both times the clothes are still wet.
I have tested the motor with a meter and the readings are OK according to a post by pengiun.
The machine is about 7 years old and has been used alot, I have no problem buying a new motor but if its faulty. Any ideas on how to make sure its the motor?
could it be a faulty speed control?
or out of balance detector?Any help appreciated.
Thanks

if it was *potentially* this it would spin at full force without a load on the spin-only programme…

Nope….
Poor seating of new brushes is a known issue with Bosch motors. I would suggest that WL removes the motor again and has a look at the brushes which he has fitted. He will probably find that the only shiny area on the brush tip is the back edge of the chamfer. This will not provide enough contact area to allow enough current to flow (cleanly) to the armature – the computer works this out and cuts off the spin sequence.
You either shell out for genuine Bosch carbons at a considerable price premium, or take a chance and adjust the chamfer angle on the ones you’ve got with a fine file. If you’re not sure what to do, I wouldn’t.
Cleaning may help; getting out all of the residual carbon dust in the end frame of the motor can improve things.
It is entirely possible that the armature in the motor is breaking down and that the motor will need replacing. At least the first couple of points don’t cost any money.
Stay safe, power off if you intend to resolve this yourself.

mr chris, i think you misread me!
If you re-read it, WL asked if it could be the o/o/b/c and i was saying it was rather unlikely because if that was the case, and it wasnt the motor components at fault- i.e they were working ok, it would spin happily with an empty drum on a spin only prog,
therefore of course if it wasnt spinning with empty drum it was highly likely to be a motor fault. correctomundo?
ps i might have been a bit too economical with words/lazy which might be why it came across as anything other than the above… 😕

Hi Thanks for the comments
A bit more info
I have just tried an empty spin and the same thing happens.
spin 1400 – spins for about a minute at a highish speed, stops tries to spin again gets up to speed and stops. Not sure if it gets to 1400.
then the timer jumps to 1 minute and stops. They are the pattern brushes and I have filed the edge to get good contact and have made sure they are not sticking, it will run through a complete wash just has problems spinning.
I know if I buy bosch brushes it will turn out to be the motor, if i buy a motor it will be the brushes (but I won’t know).
I check the motor
pins 2-3 = 1.4 ohms
pins 4-5 = 3.2
pins 6-7 = 24assuming I got pin 1right.
Sounds to me like the motor breaking down, anything else to check?
