Bosch 1200 EXPRESS CLASSIXX WF02467GB OVERHEAT

Hi there hoping someone can help please…
Returned home to find the cellar where my Bosch washer resides full of steam. The maching was on its normal 40 degree wash. The steam was coming out of the dispenser tray, the machine drum was really hot with the wash cycle still in operation but…the time remaining was showing as one minute only. We had been out well over an hour and the wash should have finished a while prior to our return. We promptly stopped the cycle and put the wash on a rinse spin so we could remove the clothes. The wash was a white one and was ruined due to the temperature of course.
The machine is five years old and has recently had a new lease of life due to me and my brother in law managing to fit new carbon brushes. Otherwise it has been fault free up till now.

Check the heater thermistor(NTC).

Hi Martin
Thanks very much for your reply. The delay in my reply is due to me buying a digital multimeter. The maching is intermittently showing the same fault in the meantime.
i am an electrical novice pretty much. My next question then is how to perform the thermistor check and whereon the machine is it please?
oh and what does NTC mean please?

The thermistor is located in the centre of the heater boss, has a two wire connector plug attached (black in colour as a rule) Unclip the connector plug then check the resistance (in kilo ohms) of the thermistor terminals.

Thanks again Martin. The ohms settings on my multimeter are as follows; 2000k, 200k, 2000, and 200. Which setting should I select and what should the reading be please? I am assuming the power needs to be switched off.

Blimey yes, unplug the power of course. 200k setting then let me know what it reads.

Thanks. From what I gather I need to take off the front panel of the machine. I will do this tommorrow. When you say the heater boss I assume you mean the heater element?

Hi there Martin

Finally, after the washing machine seemed to right itself, the problem recurred. I managed to extract the thermistor, turn the ohms to 200k and across the terminals got a 4.0 ohm reading.
Just for the sake of it i put the meter on the same setting across the heating element and got a 0.0 reading dont know if that is ok or not.

The thermistor has white calification on it too dont know if that means anything.

Your advice would be most welcome once again!

4ohms or 4kohms?

Well actually it read 4.4on the 200k setting.
