My 3 year old lightly used washer picks up rubber from the door seal on the drum, result is a load squealing when dry, and even steam after spinning.

I can remove the rubber from the drum but it just picks up more. Is this a known problem?, can I just change the door seal?.

Bosch technical say it must have been overloaded and the spindle or spider bent or bearings worn for this to happen but there is no bearing play and only the smallest run-out (approx 1-2 mm) at the drum front.

    Thanks in advance, George

    George,

Are you sure you haven’t overloaded the machine in the recent past and something got caught around the drum and seal as a result? (i.e. Bra wire, coins etc)

Is the inner drum running true or twisted in relation to the seal fixing?

Some of these machines have suffered a loose front drum plate in my experience. Easy to tell if you answer no to my last question 😉

    Martin,

    Thanks for your reply.

I can’t be sure that it has not been overloaded in the past but I am reasonably sure that has not been fouled by coins/bra wires.

To be fair this noise has been happening for some time but has been getting worse as more rubberry gunge gets picked up.

The seal looks fairly true to me but I am not sure how to check this accurately. The front piece of the inner drum seems secure.

    George,

Best get one of our lads to check it out 😉 , go into ‘Directories’ and type in your postcode, speak to a local guy there 🙂

They are good machines and well worth looking at but not at Bosch’s prices OK!

    Thanks Martin,

Unfortunately no-one seems to offer services in the BH postcode area (Bournemouth), must be one of you works down here on the coast 8) .

Agree about Bosch prices, spares site is good though.
