we have a built-under Bosch fridge that’s maybe 3-4 years old. It’s a KUR15A40GB, almost identical to the current KUR15A50GB.

It’s totally failing to get cold (it was at 20C last time I checked). I’ve pulled it out and can confirm that it has power (the light comes on) and the little fan that cools the coils at the back underneath is working just fine. I can hear what sounds like a compressor (like that on a hand held paint gun). This sound comes on for maybe 10-15 seconds then stops, then comes on again maybe 2-5 mins for 10-15 secs. This repeats forever and is a new sound that started a couple of days ago.

I could convince myself that it’s not been properly cold for a while, but it’s a drinks fridge so not really paid attention. To my untrained eye, it feels like it’s degassed for some reason. Is there some way I can tell if this is the case?

Is it repairable – or should I look at junking it for a new one?

    Hi,

Not sure what a paint gun compressor sounds like, however if everything else is ok, but it needs re-gassing, then you will hear (and be able to feel) the compressor running. It’s the black ball shaped thing at the back. Try putting your hand on it. If you feel a constant vibration and it’s warm/hot then it’s running and it does need re-gassing.

It does sound to me though, that the noise you can hear is it trying to start.
