My bosch dishwasher has been leaking, on pulling it out have discovered that both back panel and internal side panels have melted and bubbled. It has also scorched the electrical cable. Obviously machine could have gone on fire at any time. Heard about Bosch recall but I’m not able to ID the machine as the rating plate has completely faded. Is there any other way of finding the batch no on machine?

Wrong! That’s the tarred insulation you refer to. It is bonded to the stainless steel tub and can get sticky on contact with the mains cable leaving a black/brown stain on the cable. It is perfectly normal.

The same black insulation is found on the bottom of stainless steel sinks. It acts as a sound deadening material.
