Bosch Classix internal leak

I have a Bosch Classix dishwasher (model SGS55C02GB/71 ) which was showing the “check water” light. Problem turns out to be internal leak into the tray, tripping the float sensor.

I have the two side panels off, and having emptied the tray and started a rinse cycle, after a few minutes water has collected again and tripped the float sensor. I can’t see any obvious source of the leak – none of the joints at the bottom of the manifold seem to be leaking, nor anywhere else that I can see through the sides. Fair amount of gunge in the water softener section, but that looks more dried out than leaking (this machine never has salt in it as the house has a softner).

Questions:

1) any prime suspects for the leak

2) How do I disassemble it further? Lie on the front and take the base off or ????

3) Not related to my problem, but the vent tube on the right hand side popped out as I took the side off. Does it just poke down into the bottom tray area when I put it back together, or does it go somewhere particular?

To be candid, it could be anything that was leaking in the base.

A lot of the guys turn them upside down to get to the base, others say that’s a bad thing but irrespective, to find the leak you’ll need to get into it.

Prime suspects:
1) Tiny pin hole sized rust holes in stainless tub under the drain sieve area.
2) Small puncture hole in plastic heater unit.
3) Black rubber tub seal perished.
4) Main circulation pump shaft seal leak.
5) Transfer tube between fill matrix and tub blocked.
6) Bottom door seal perished.

All have to be studiously checked whilst machine is upright and running. Beware of messing ‘cos electricity kills…!!!

The steam vent hose by the way just pokes into a retaining lug just beyond the mains cable inlet and directly behind the heater box.

Many thanks for your comments. It became clear that it was leaking from the main motor seal, but in the end I bottled out of dismantling it far enough to get at it, so called in professional help.

Now working OK.
