ParticipantCustomer has a Bosch Classixx 1000 Express washing machine that does not always heat the water up?
Checked water pressure valve ok and all seems to be working. Made three washes at 60* and 90* and heater came on and measured the current. Drain and spin function cycled ok..
Elderly lady had spilt some dark liquid all over the top and some had run down into the front plastic knobs and dried up, looks like a pot of tea. While there cleaned out the pump impeller and checked outlet hose for a good flow.
All ran correctly for me while there but now she says it is not heating up for a 40* wash.Could not see anything on the pcb plastic container from the inside but did not take the unit out for a closer look at the pcb as the heater turned on for me.
Any ideas to the fault chaps.FlyingBrick

Sorry chaps, the model number is WFL2066GB/08 FD8409 605195.
Have now been told heater comes on when you dial in a 60* wash but not warming up on a 40* wash?
Element reads around 23 ohms and takes 2100 watts when on with motor running.

ParticipantAlways a bit dubious about these kind of intermitant heating calls, how does she know its not heating at 40*?
The only way she would know is by putting her hand on the glass and 40* is not that hot, especially with modern low water levels.Cant think of anything else more technical if you have checked the pressure system, element and even tested it heating. You could try the module.

Back again Martin with full apologies for grabbing Sticky whilst having a bad morning with the children. It will not happen again.
Please could you tell me what the aprox time would be expected for the heating element to come on in the Bosch washing machine for a standard cotton’s wash at 40* water temp. Mains water comes in at around 12* centigrade.Just trying to fathom out if there is anything wrong with the control board.

Total cycle time for a 40 deg wash should be around 90 mins. Where the heater has gone open circuit the machine takes in excess of 2 to 2.5 hours to complete perhaps even longer.
I doubt if its a module fault as if it heats on 60 then it’ll heat on them all. The only exception here being that perhaps the NTC’s resistance tolerance is failing and perhaps fitting a new NTC the way over your problem?

Thanks Martin
Will have a look in that area and see what the resistance is doing against temp. Yes agree if a triac went bang on the board then nothing would be on the element.
Thanks

IIRC it will take aprox 10 to 15 minutes before heater comes on.
If you watch the drum, it will speed up just before the heat phase.

Thanks superfix
Thats just what I wanted, so that I don’t have to stay there all day waiting for immersion element to come on or not at the start of the wash.
Elderly lady has the beginnings of dementia so one has to spend quite a lot of time with her whilst trying to sort out the heating problem. Thanks again chaps, story to continue on Monday with a spare NTC.

ParticipantI have come across a couple with a dry solder joint on the relay.

If the thermistor is ok then will take out the pcb for any damaged tracks around the relay Micky 32 and take along soldering iron.

Hi Waters and Micky32
After a lot of hard looking found a minute hairline crack on the PCB using an eye magnifier.
Yes chaps, just by the relay.
While I was there it did heat up on the 60* position every time the next day customer reported cold again.
Out with soldering iron and heating restored. Have seen the tracks burnt badly before around the relay but this time it was really well hidden. Thanks all of you for your help in getting it heating all the time.
