ParticipantEverything appears to work on my Bosch Classixx 1200 Express apart from the fact that the drum does not rotate!
I replaced the carbon brushes in March 2017 so that shouldn’t be the cause. I replaced [I think!] the motor 3 or 4 years ago. Could it be the motor again? [I’m sure I bought it from you but cannot find details.]
[The belt is OK.]

brushes are always the first thing to check. pull them out and if they look long enough not to have gone look at the end. if its been in good contact it will be shiny and if its been sparking it will be dull and matt
also check motor connectionsDave

Thank you – dust in the brushes. [Once you mentioned it I actually remember cleaning them previously.]

It has worked perfectly for a week then stopped. I’ve had the brushes out again but still nothing. [The end of the brushes is shiny.] The noise suggests that everything else is OK.
Another suggestion, please?

Check with a multimeter that you have continuity between the motor terminals (3 sets of 2). If so the motor should be OK and the problem therefore is the connecting lead to it I would imagine.
Giving us the full model number of your machine would help too. (inside the door).

There is a connection between the terminal input on the motor to both brushes, [terminals 3 & 4]. There is also a connection between the brushes terminals and the disc which the carbons touch.
There no connection between the earth and any terminal.
Not sure what you mean by “motor terminals (3 sets of 2)”. [There is a connection between 5 & 6, and between 1 & 2.]

most motors have 6 terminals but some have 7
you have 2 terminals for the brushes ( you say 3 & 4) with brushes in you should get a reading between 3 and 4. With brushes out you should get a low reading between 3 and one brush and 4 and the other brush
you have 2 terminals for a tacho and the other 2 ( or poss 3) for a field coil. you should get a low reading on the field coil but a slightly higher one on the tacho

There are 6 terminals.
1&2 give a high reading; 3&4 are the brushes; 5&6 give a low reading.

That then, more or less, confirms the motor should work and that the problem is the connection to it. Check the connector lead.
