ParticipantMy washing machine keeps tripping the electrics.
It’s ok on the rinse program but when a put it on a 40 degree wash
it trips after about 10mins. Could it be the heating element ? What do I
do to confirm that it is this part at fault and where can I find parts and
how do I change the part.
Very desparate to solve this problem, have been without washing
machine tfor 2 months now….ps. how much does part cost?
much appreciated!!

It certainly sounds like it to me? A new element costs around £45 – £50 though so best get a local engineer in to check it out first. (see the link below for one in your area) 🙂

Just one element (Part No: 265961) and can be ordered via spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk
Do bear in mind that it is best someone that is competent at electrical repairs and testing should inspect and diagnose this likely fault first though. My advice is to click on the link below. 😉

just spoke to my cousin and he said that the reading is 1- 3.5 mega ohms
between earth and contacts to element, which confirms a leakage.I’m afraid money is an issue for me, otherwise I would have just
gone out to get a new machine.October 14, 2006 at 12:53 pm #190878amoeba

can someone please confirm what the reading should be on the element
if there’s suppose to be one.thank you!

The reading of the element should be appox 30 ohms between its terminals and >10 Mohms between earth and one of the main terminals.
Make sure that there are no wires on the terminals of the heater or a false reading may occur and most importantly, unplug appliance before undertaking any repairs :plug:
