Hi,
My Bosch tumble dryer has started playing up. The cycle says its complete but the clothes are still damp!

What temperature should the drum reach for drying? Currently its 80 degrees.
The moisture sensor seems to work as testing it with a dry towel turns it off fairly quickly!

I have cleaned the fan blades, tunnels/tubes, condensate tray and heat exchanger! Is there a good way to clean the fins of the cold air side? Ive been trying to pick fluff out with a needle….

Pulling out the sensor at the front makes no difference to the temperature of the drum and when unplugged the machine wont start (assuming this is an overheat device anyways?)

Any ideas please?

check the owners manual you have some adjustment on the degree of dryness

Thanks for the reply – I have the dryness set with 4 leds ON. In the manual it doesn’t really state which is more dry (more or less LEDs?)

if its not that we are looking at a sensor issue and there are 2 ways to sense dryness and I don’t know which one your dryer uses

1 way one is to have an electrode inside the drum this can either be a stainless bar affixed to plastic or some manufacturers split the drum or isolate the paddles. either way what happens is wet clothes conduct electricity and this is used to determine dryness. The negative of this system is it can get contaminated with the most common being tumble dryer freshness sheets

2 way two is to measure the front and rear ntc’s. we know the temp of the air coming into the dryer and the wetter the clothes the lower the air temp will be leaving it past the front sensor. To find if this is your problem you would have to know the values of both thermistors at a given temp

Hi,
It uses two sensor bars at the front – I have cleaned them with vinegar and given them a rub with a washing sponge.

Does 80 degrees sound warm enough to dry clothes? it goes to 70 degrees on a dedicates dry. When I used to open the machine mid cycle the clothes would be steaming hot!

I will check the NTCs later – Is there likely to be a datasheet that will tell me what the resistance should be at a certain temperature?

Do you think its worth just changing the sensors? Im struggling to find out what temperature it should heat the clothes too?

to be honest I think 80 degrees would sound about right as they don’t want to damage the clothes but don’t have aces to that sort of info

I am more interested in why the moisture sensor is thinking its dry when its not

I have adjusted the drying setting to 1 led and have successfully dried two loads now! temp is 75-80 degrees! No idea if the setting changed…. Fingers crossed it lasts – Either that or the moisture sensor is playing up?
