Hello, I have read several of the posts on here and i’m none the wiser! My M/C (model above) Doesn’t drain completely, this I suppose wouldn’t probably be of concern if in regular use, but as it’s in my holiday house if you let the water lie in it obviously it stinks when you return, I’m talking about 1″-2″ above the s/s fillter plate! The problem to me seems to be the level of the mushroom float, cause if i reach in and lift it the pump starts and it drains! I brought the m/c outside and stripped it down a bit, checked hoses etc all very clean, checked the impeller etc, all seems ok! This is when i discovered my second fault, when i put the hose inside the m/c to raise the level and float the float to start the pump I noticed the flow of water was very poor similar to me having a pee-I-diddle, so I fitted a new pump on loan from the local agent to find the flow identical so fitted my own again! While playing around I found that if I turned the pump on and off a couple of time in quick succession and thn held it on the pump emptied the m/c quickly, the full of the pipe! I hope this makes some sense and some one can tell me why the pump is good if played with but never pumps good first go!

    Keep’er country, Kai

It can only be a flow restriction. Bit of glass in the drain pipe acting as a flap valve, perhaps?
