ParticipantMy fridge will chill to 0 degrees in no time from off,the fan at the back works, it is not frosted up, however it turns itself off for long periods and the temp in the frige rises to 10 degrees, I have removed the thermastat and checked its resistance and it goes from zero ohms at room temp to infinity at freezer temp.My local engineer says it needs regassing so not worth fixing, this is obviously cobblers.where is the timer ? do you think its the thermostat that has lost its sensitivity?.I fix most things myself.

Hi
This could also be a ambient temperature sensor failure. Where is the fridge ?
If its going down to temperature then its NOT the gas or system. It’s a control problem.

Fridge is in kitchen which is usually at about 20 degrees.I have looked all over can’t see timer or sensors,Looks like i will have to take out back insulated panel, which is bonkers ,does anyone build a sensible fridge? American?.

Thanks for your interest Bryan, seems a shame to scrap a machine for just something minor. If i short out the thrmostat and it keeps going will that prove its the fault?.I can fit a new stat no problem.

I took the thermostat out ,sprayed it with switch cleaner and it now works!!, just as well i ignored the service guy.I will get a new one (none in the country it seems) sometime.I don’t think i’ll buy Bosch again, spares at a ridiculous price and not in stock .Danfoss stats are a fraction of the price from other sources. Will a generic stat work??.
