ParticipantHi there.
I have a Bisch Classixx vented tumble dryer that has stopped heating up.
In the past I have taken the back off, pressed the red button on the heater to reset it and its worked. This time, the button won’t press, which is suggesting to me that it has tripped. Is there a way of testing the heater to see if its finally given up the ghost?
I have got my multimeter and have checked continuity across both the upper and lower thermostats, and both are beeping – so im assuming they are ok. I have taken the hose out and looked for any blockages which there aren’t.
I have put my meter across the other 2 connectors between the thermostats which I believe will be the heater terminals and there is continuity between those. Is that pointing to the heater finally gone and will an eBay replacement suffice?
Thanks in advanceJanuary 29, 2017 at 1:34 pm #444885kaibart

You say you have continuity through the 2 thermostats this should be 0.5-1ohm and if you are checked the heater you should get a higher reading there is a front thermal limiter on the dryer to situated at the front somewhere and you should also have continuity through that as well if all have continuity it would suggest the timer has faild

Thanks Kalibart.
As the tumble dryer is tucked away it was a bit of a task to get behind it and look at my multimeter, so I didn’t check the ohms readings, I just listened for the continuity beep. I don’t have continuity between the two terminals of the heater element, I didn’t get a beep. Should there be continuity between the two terminals of the heater element? (Im assuming that its the 2 terminals of the heater element. They are around central on the back of the tumble dryer and between the thermostats.

I have got the dryer out and done some more digging…..
I have exposed the heater element, and have tested continuity. I have continuity on outer casing of the element. I don’t have continuity on the terminals of the element. I have tried to upload pictures of what I mean but they are too big so will describe as best I can.
As the element passing through the metal framing, the terminals where the 2 plugs plug onto – they do not have continuity. If i put my meter onto the element side of the framing then I do have continuity across the outer casing.. so is there an inner working to the element which could have broken down?

Hi if you visit http://www.bosch-home.co.uk/store/spare you can enter the model number and it will show you where the element is 😉

Hi, Thanks
Ive exposed the element.. and have found that there is no continuity at the terminals… there is continuity on the body of the element… but at the terminal there is none, which is why i am wondering if the element has an inner core which may have broken resulting in there being no continuity at the terminalsJanuary 29, 2017 at 7:26 pm #444892Martin

The heating element (part no: 00498607) needs replacing. Very common failing.

Thankyou Martin.. !! Does what I describe make sense? The outer casing seems to have continuity but when I go to the terminals there is no continuity which I think would suggest that the inner core has failed?

wonderful..!! while the back is off… is there anything else I should replace as a service ? I have found a collection of fluff in there which I have removed which showed signs of burn marks… so Ive cleaned that out… is the belt easily replaceable or worth doing while I have the back off, or the bearings?
