    Hello,

2 Weeks ago I smelt a bit of a electric burning smell, but it went away again. I guess it is related to the problem I have now.
Now my tumble dryer is making a funny buzzing noise when I switch it on.
I took the top cover off and when I give the drum a little pusch it start spinning again. I also hear (guess) big Fan making a noise (blowing air)
The drum spin left en right ways.
The second problem is that it is not heating up.

Does anybody have any suggestions ?
    Easy to repair ?
    Cheap ?

    Please advice

    Regards
    Ron

It will prob need a new start capacitor for the motor . Also , because of no drum action , the machines overheat protection temp limiter may have gone open circuit .

Unplug the appliance , remove the back panel and look for a small black component with a red button . Push the button and it should ‘click’ back in. This will hopefully reset the temp limiter but you will still need the capacitor to get the motor running again.

    Thanks NomadPaul,

Under the cover I found a capacitor, I guess that is the start capacitor.
    275V ~ and 0.022 uF
Are there anyother things I need to look out for when I am going to Maplin to get a new capacitor ?

I haven’t looked for the fuse yet, but I am sure that should be easy to find.

    Cheers

You’ll need THIS. It’s mounted on the side of the motor.

Thanks for your help, replaced the Start Capacitor and pressed the red switch of the automatic fuse and it works again.

    Thanks again.
