My first time on this forum so please be patient with me. Washing machine initially tripped mcb during wash. Reset and power stayed on, tried but wouldn’t go into wash or spin cycle and drum only turning then stopping. After several attempts, motor fault indication flashing. Checked motor and brushes down to approx 10mm, no evidence of arcing but changed for new anyway. Refitted motor and tried. In wash or spin cycle, the drum spins for a second then stops, repeats this every 30 seconds but will not go into awash or spin cycle. Pump works, level (pressure) switch working and tube clear.
Can anybody help please………

first thing i would do is remove wires from heater and try it again. faulty heaters cause all sorts of weird faults

at the back of every wash motor is a tachometer
this consists of a revolving magnet inside a coil
it sounds like the magnet may have broken
theory goes like this
motor start to turn but the programmer cannot sense any movement so stops it again and repeatsyou need to have the motor checked to see if the tacho has an output

Thanks again Dave.
Motor tests ok. Suggestions are a control board problem, apparently these aren’t tested or repaired, just replaced! can’t think of anything else that would cause this fault.
Still £200 so looks like a new washer. Why sell spares that are worth more than the appliance!!!!Appreciate your help

My apologies, Unfortunately I’ve been overruled and a new washer is wizzing away as I type.
Was hoping to solve the problem so,that a) we had a working washer and b) others would benefit from the forum. Thanks ever so much for your help. It was very much appreciated.
