I had a good thing going with the Bosch WAE 24162. Good machine, good price, easy to sell, good profit . This model dissapeared, and I went with the WAA24161. same advantages. I could buy it at £200 and sell it at £300. Now they have done away with this model.
Their cheapest model now, the 1400 spin 5kg job will cost me£235 and to make me the same profit will have to sell at about £360. There is a vast psycological difference between £300 and £360. Oh and by the way I am told I cannot buy them untill 19th November.
Am I missing something here? Why is Bosch biting the hand that feeds them?It is enough to drive you to selling Beko..
Unless someone knows where I can buy a few WAA24161 s.

I know D.A.D at Gloucester had some WAE24162 in stock a little while ago. You could try them on 01452 504084.

    ^^^^ What he said! 😆

ISE 2 will fit and allow you to beat the Bosch on price. From what I can see the only sacrifice is that the ISE2 is 1200rpm, but still AAB performance, 5Kg load etc.

Unlike the Bosch you will get back ALL the servicing work though, including in warranty repairs for the two year warranty. Let me see you get that on a Bosch.

    Even looks a bit like a Bosch… 😉

Ever since UKW started the general concensus on the topics and threads has been the fact that we all believe that machines are too cheap.

This is the main reason given for the fact that people are throwing away their machines rather than repairing them.

Sorry to have to state the obvious, but you are far more likely to be asked to repair a machine costing £360 than you are on one costing £299.

The other thing you have to consider here, is brand image. Up until the introduction of the ISE machines the only quality recomendations given out by the vast majority of the guys on this site were either Bosch or Meile.

If you were Bosch which end of the manufacturers percieved quality spectrum would you like to be associated with ? Servis or Miele.

The price point of your entry level product is a major determining factor in the perception of your brand.

The brands fighting to produce the cheapest machines are the true corporate lemmings if you ask me.

Yeh, have to agree with you sean. A general rise in prices is what the repair game badly needs, so i hope others follow. Wasnt long ago my local comet had Bosch 1200s stacked at the door priced at £250. A move nearer to a£350 retail would be most welcome.Sad fact is most people will only get something repaired if the cost to replace makes them write out a large cheque they’d rather not. Microwaves are a case in point, never did a huge amount but there was always a handful every month. I think i’ve had two this year, both sounded like mag faults from the description on phone, neither wanted it fixed. :rolls:

It’s all over the place in a multitude of threads but mostly all in the ISE forum I guess. A search threw up over ten pages of results. 😕

In short you get to service what you sell and the machines ain’t bad either.

If you drop me a PM or email with some details I’ll ask John to give you a ring about it tomorrow.
