ParticipantHave a Bosch SKT5102 compact dishwasher that seems to start overflowing whilst in the wash program?
Water drips start to appear from the front door at the bottom and then run down over the lip to the work service creating a big puddle.
Is this the door seal leaking or the water level is to high in the washer as it is around three years old.
Screws come off at the back but white plastic covers on the front side are a problem as I do not want to damage the outer casing.Anybody had this problem with the compact and found an answer.

Have taken off the plastic door cover and noticed that the water splashes up in the middle of the trough at the front.
There is only a rubber seal on each side of the door sealing the water from splashing out held in place by two ruuber grommets.
As fingers have been into the front lid by the customer should the bottom rubber seal run all the way along the bottom of the door and not just three inches each side with a long gap at the bottom which allows the water to splash out.Should the rubber seal go all the way along the bottom of the door before somebody played around with it?

Have had a look on http://www.bshappliancecare.com/bshspares.html but it just shows a goalpost type seal. There are one or two Bosch specialists on here. One’s called Beever – look up his profile, and maybe pm him – he offers help.

Late reply but sorted out the leaking problem.
The two goalposts which were sealing the corners of the lid were present.
There was a large gap along the front of the door which caused the water to pour out once the pump had started.
Found a soft rubber strip to super glue along the length to each goal post on the bottom of the lid.
Problem solved, no more water flooding out and running over the owners work service.
Have now heard that some other owners of this Bosch unit have had the same problem with no bottom seal along the full length. Bosch design fault.FlyingBrick

The detergent action in the next few washes will decay that adhesion and the rubber strip will fall away!

There is no need for a seal along the bottom edge of the tub, there is no modification to fit one either, nor is there any design fault as far as I’m aware.
The problem is one of two possibilities. Firstly on machines over say 3 or 4 years old, the spray arm plastic weld can break down and the arm spring a leak along the weld, thus squirting water under the door as it rotates. 😉
Finally, detergent over sudsing can cause dramatic over-foaming and spillage out of the door. Usually caused by someone buying these detergent tablets and breaking them up in order to cram into the tiny dispenser. Bubbles everywhere within but comes out of the door as a simple water leak due to the bubbles condensing in the ambient outside temperature. 😯
HTH should you get a recall? 😀

Thanks Martin
Yes hear what you say and agree.
Did check the spray arm and could not find any cracks along its length.
Put the dishwasher on my workbench and checked it with a spirit level in case it was propped up at an angle in the nursing home.
Also found out later that somebody had brocken the plastic door front by jamming something in on the right hand corner and had glued the bits back with the bolts stripping some of the plastic out.
Did notice that it had been played about with before they handed it to me for a look.
Had also run up the dishwasher without any detergent present and the water level seemed high and every pulse poured some dribbles out the front lip between the two gaol post seals.Could not find any blockages in the pipework where rubbish had collected.
Is aprox half an inch of water from the bottom of the case when running to high Martin? Thanks again for your help

It sounds about right Chris to be honest. 🙂
Next time you have any problems just take a close look at the Pressure Chamber Unit as very often they can gunge up a bit allowing a little too much water in.
Fingers crossed you’ve sorted it though. 😉

Thanks again Martin.
A great help when you are shooting in the dark.
After 15 years repairing broadcast equipment, domestic repairs are a lot more hassle than working in studios which keep you dry.
Just playing around with monitors at 28kV keep you alert.
