Issue is knocking noise coming from water tank. There is a sprung-loaded hole on the underneath of the water collection tank.

The machine displays ‘CLn’ at this moment – 3 minutes into a timed dry.

    The water tank is empty.

I’ve never worked on these heat-pump machines. Have done my best to avoid them.

    This fault intreaged me though.

It’s as if there is a channel from bottom of water tank to condensing (self clean) box, and the machine is using water form the water tank to attempt cleaning?

It open the bottom valve to momentarily allow some water to drop down.

How does one even gain access to the condensing box to clean it?

I have looked into it in the past, but was left with the feeling everything down there was sealed and not accessible.

    Door filter is clear.

    Cheers.

Well after some digging found out that ‘CLn’ is not an error message, and the knocking sound is expected.

The machine does use water form the water tank to clean the heat exchanger, just as I had expected.

    Cheers.
